Maintaining the release pressure after the superbly-received ‘Return2Mindfunk’, Used and Abused drop their next bomb in the form of ‘Nympho’ by hot newcomers Speculum.

Having seen support under their breakbeat alter-ego Soundex from none other than James Zabiela, the Leeds-based production outfit are currently picking up props for their ‘Implant’ release on UFO, the label run by house heavyweights Audiojack.

‘Nympho’ is Speculum at their finest – massive drums underpinned by massive bass and topped off with massive synths… this is the epitome of snarling big-room house, built solely to devastate dancefloors worldwide.

Elite Force approaches his remix with late night floors in mind – retaining the original synth hook he crafts a thudding boom-bap groove replete with throbbing low-end and sprinkled with his own distinctive FX.

The last of the mixes, from Italian stable Mantra’s Mowgli, is straight out of the Switch school of production. Brash synths and razor-sharp chops all vye for the listener’s attention while the track itself feels inches away from falling apart – masterful stuff from the young Italian.

Finally, Speculum complete the package with another track, ‘Invader’. An altogether more reserved affair than ‘Nympho’, this contemporary piece of 4/4 impresses with its fuzzy pads and steady build, all coupled with the usual immaculate production.

Pay close attention to the Mowgli remix – nice bassline combined with a Mr. Oizo shuffling hook. Will turn the dancefloor upside down, just perfect to spice up a seemingly never ending minimal set….

Woohow, where did that come from? Why did we miss out on that one in the first place? Can`t be true! Honestly, one of the BEST records this year. Four tracks, four times the same statement: We`re gonna rip the floor APART, so happend at Golden Gate Club in Berlin last weekend. Flinsch & Nielson (last aka Holgi Star) surely know how the wiggle the ladys and jiggle the gents: Four massive Techno dancefloor munchers, the textbooks need to be re-written. And why did we pull out this record, though it`s already been out two months? First: Good music is timeless and secondly, the sequel with the tracks Gimmick 5 – 8 comes out in a few weeks on vinyl. And they truly continue with what Gimmick 1 – 4 started, make sure to get your hands on it to Techno up the floors around the globe.
