Kandel – Familie Schroffenstein EP

“Diskomafia is proud to announce Kandel’s “Familie Schroffenstein” EP, which tells the story of a weird family vacation full of surprises. The EP features 4 distinct dancefloor tracks that are bound to be loved by DJs for they tooly feel and by the partycrowd for their fun factor.

The title track “Familie Schroffenstein” is an unusual piece of house music, where the main elements are a repetitive synthie melody mingled with pseudo-saxophone funkyness, both topping a wobbly bassline.

“Im Nagetiermuseum” is an ode to the Berlin nightlife, featuring an acidic bass, flying cut & paste sounds and odd percussive elements that generate a driving dancefloorkiller.

“Die Reise zum heiligen Berg” is the most ‘beautiful’ of the 4 tracks, it refers to a more ‘classic’ Detroit approach in a handcrafted analogue shell. Finally, “Die graue Herrin” is a mean straight functional and dirty techno track for dark moments.”

Matrix – Mute (Grooverider Presents: The Prototype Years )

As far as I remember, this was the first track that really made me listen to electronic music properly. I don`t quite remember everything. I still know I, listened to recorded radio show called “Hard Edged” on a tape. (The good old AIWA tape player ..) The radio moderator played Mute and this song stayed on my mind till now .. and probably will for a long time. It basically was my seductive ticket into the world of electronic music as I know it today.

Today I zapped through Youtube and literally from nowhere these two words “Matrix” and “Mute” came on my mind. And here it is .. my  first really conscious encounter with electronic music. Quite late, in 1998. The track is still beautiful and has its own character. You won`t find many tracks with so much .. uniqueness. Before that I was more into 90s dance music … like Maxx ..

But I am not so selfish, because once you’re into my house it then becomes our house and our housemusic. And you see, no one man owns house, because housemusic is a universal language spoken and understood by all. You see, house is a feeling, that no one can understand really, unless you’re deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrolable desire to jack your body. And as I told you before: This is our house and our housemusic. In every house, you understand, is a keeper and in this house the keeper is Jack. Now, if some of you might wonder “Who is Jack and what is it that Jack does?” Jack is the one that gives you the power to jack your body. Jack is the one who gives you the power to do the snake. Jack is the one who gives you the key to the wiggly worm. Jack is the one who learns you how to walk your body. Jack is the one that can bring nations and nations of jackers together under one house. You may be black, you may be white, you may be Jew or Gentile… It dont make a differance in our house. And this is fresh.
