Da freu ich mich drauf: Von meinem Kollegkollegen Holger Schwetter wurde ich zu einem Vortrag und zum Auflegen nach Osnabrück eingeladen: Thematisch geht es um die Typik und Spezifik der Szenewirtschaft der Techno-Szene (im Unterschied z.b. zu Begriffen wie Musikwirtschaft, Kreativwirtschaft, Kulturwirtschaft) und in der anschließenden Diskussionen um einen konkreten Bezug zur Osnabrücker Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft. Auf der Party danach lege ich im lokalen Unikeller bei der Veranstaltungsreihe "Version" auf, das wird sicherlich heiter. Mit dabei sind natürlich auch die Residents von Version. Kommt vorbei, diskutiert mit, und anschließend: dance with us !

Gerade bereitete ich mich auf einen Vortrag über die Produktion elektronischer Tanzmusik vor und surfte für die Präsentation ein wenig nach Bildern im Internet. Und dabei fand ich diese einführende Doku über Homerecording-Produktion: "Rise of the Bedroom Producer – A Dance Music Documentary 2011". Im kurzen Video (15 Minuten) erfahrt ihr einiges über Motive und Handlungsbedingungen der Dance Music Home-Producer. Wer tiefer einsteigen will, kann in meiner Diplomarbeit zur Produktion von elektronischer Tanzmusik in Homerecording-Studios weiterlesen. Die wird übrigens (hoffentlich bald) als kürzere und überarbeitete Version in einer wissenschaftlichen Zeitschrift veröffentlicht.

Here is a mix I recorded just for fun last weekend. It's a house selection, ranging from 1980s acid house to todays variations of raw, oldschooly tech-house. Ein weiterer Seminartag rund um Techno-Kultur findet am 18.11.2011 von 11-18 Uhr am Archiv für Jugendkulturen statt. In drei knackigen Vorträgen und Diskussionen geht es um die politischen Dimensionen der Techno-Kultur, eine Soziologie der Praxis der Musikproduktion und ihrer szenespezifischen sozioökonomischen Bedingungen und die Frage, inwiefern sich politisches Streben immer auch schon in der Flyerkultur der Technoiden gezeigt hat. Ein sehr lesenswerter wissenschaftlicher Artikel, der eine theoretische Grundlage dafür bietet das wirtschaftliche Treiben rund um elektronische Tanzmusik nicht lediglich als Kreativwirtschaft oder Musikwirtschaft zu betrachten, sondern es als eine eigene Struktur wirtschaftlicher Tätigkeiten wahrzunehmen und auf entsprechende spezielle Handlungsbedingungen hin zu untersuchen.  Das komplette PDF gibts free im Netz. "This  article  examines  a  very  basic  question  for  popular  music  studies:  what  is  ‘the  music industry?’ It surveys the usage of the term in various arenas and argues that it is often used in ways which state or imply that the industry is a homogenous unit with shared objectives and interests. However, the reality is that this picture is, at best, outdated and an inaccurate portrayal of the organisational structure of the global music economy in the mid-2000s. In addition, to think of a single ‘music industry’ rather than music industries, plural, is simplistic and does little to aid understanding  of  those  cultural  industries  which  are  primarily  concerned  with  the  creation, management and selling of music, either as a physical/digital product, a performance, or as a bundle of intellectual property rights. We tease out the implications of this, especially as they relate to understanding what is routinely referred to as ‘the music industry’ and the development of policies for it." (Abstract)
